Emoji leggings? But of course!

I recently discovered an amazing new company out of New York called Zara Terez.  They make super fun printed leggings - my favorite being their Emoji print.

I have a bit of an obsession with using Emojis, you can ask my husband.  It's waaaay too fun and easy to be silly over text.  Anyway, along with the fact that they make these for adults (shop HERE), they also make them for girls (shop HERE).

They come in sizes 7/8 (a girls S)  through 16 (girls XL).  I wish they came smaller because I feel like Gemma NEEDS these!  Look at this peanut below from their website!

Here are some of my favorites for girls, you can find them at Saks.

Donut Printed Leggings, $50

Street Sign Printed Legging, $50

Dog Printed Leggings, $50

DIY Headbands & Hairties

How many times have I been shopping somewhere and said 'I could make this!' {for a fraction of the price}?  Too many times to count!

Such is the case with these super cute elastic hair ties and headbands.  I see them everywhere, and after paying way too much for some for my niece a couple of months ago it was decided.

I found the elastic a few different places online, but I ended up buying mine from elasticbytheyard.com.     They have great color choices, and I liked that you can choose how much you want of each color.  To start, I bought 5 yards of each.  I figured I can make some for myself and my daughter, and then either sell a few to those who are interested and give them as gifts.

They're super easy to make, so if you're interested, read on.

Step 1.  Order your elastic from http://www.elasticbytheyard.com/

Step 2.  Gather your tools.  You'll need a ruler or tape measure, scissors and a lighter.

Step 3.  For headbands, measure 22" and cut on the diagonal.*
For hair ties, measure 9-10" and cut on the diagonal.*

*these are sizes for an adult headband or hair tie.  adjust accordingly if you're making some for little girls or babies.

Step 4.  Fold in half, and tie the ends together.  Looping them around your finger works well for this type of knot.

Step 5.  Run the edges of the elastic lightly across a flame to seal and prevent fraying.

Step 6.  Show off your handiwork!

The best part about these is that if they're too big or too small, you can always re-tie the knot to adjust.

Hope you've been inspired to DIY!

And if you don't want to DIY - let me know.  I can make some for ya (for a lot cheaper than you'll pay elsewhere.  ;-))

scrumptious new line

One new line we have coming into Wonder this spring is designed right here in the Chicago area.

Mustard Pie Clothing.  I was turned onto it by a girlfriend who actually knows the designer (Shannon) well - and totally lucked out! Mustard Pie is one of the cutest most whimsical little girls lines out there right now.

Pulled from the Mustard Pie site, here's a little info about the line and how it came to be - a darling story.

When I was a little girl my mom was always baking.  I remember she made this amazing Lemon Meringue Pie that was just to die for.  One Mother’s Day, when i was about 5, I decided I wanted to try and make one for her instead to show her how much she meant to me.
She helped me get the crust ready, but I wanted to do the filling all by myself.  I searched high and low for that mysterious yellow filling that tasted so yummy and smooth.  Finally, I found what MUST have been the filling for her amazing Lemon Meringue pie.  I took the big jar of yellow mustard out of the refrigerator and squeezed and squeezed until the crust was full to the top! PERFECT I thought!
Starting as a young child I have always had a wild imagination and this was just one of the funny stories that reminds me how creative we are as children.  My hope in designing children’s clothing is to help them express some of that creative imagination in what they choose to wear and to make them feel like the UNIQUE and ONE OF A KIND individuals they are!
I have always had a love of fashion and my two children have reminded me of that child like creativity I had the day I made my first “Mustard Pie” and have been the inspiration for all my designs.
So without further adieu, here are some sneak peek pics from Spring.  Oh and if you want to 'like' Mustard Pie on Facebook it looks like there are some giveaways to enter from time to time....can't beat that.

I can't wait for it to arrive!

oh little girls!

I am very much enjoying shopping for my little Gemma Grace these days.  She's walking, starting to talk, I can get her hair into pigtails (almost a full-on ponytail!), and looks cute in just about anything!

However, I am pretty particular about what she wears.  Being the apparel buyer at Wonder, my eyes have been opened up to so so many cute lines for children - and it's only just begun!  One of my favorites that we carry is Giggle Moon.

It's totally over the top with ruffles, applique, and mixed and matched patterns, prints and colors but it's perfect for a baby or toddler - and they may as well do it because it's the only time in your life you can pull all of that off at once!  :-)

Here are some cute shots from Giggle Moon's Fall 2011 line we have at Wonder! right now, as well as online at www.shopwonder.com!

What do you all think?  I don't dress Gemma in this everyday, but these looks certainly have an occasion and will make your little lady the talk of the party for sure!
