D'Orsay Do's

Definition of d'orsay

  1. :  a pump-type shoe or slipper made with a circular vamp and a quarter that curves to meet the vamp at the shank line

You either know EXACTLY what I'm talking about when I say D'orsay pumps, or you have NO CLUE.  So now you know.

Personally, I love a good d'orsay pump.  They are comfortable, and often made in lower heel heights, as I literally just cannot wear a 4.5" anymore.  It's just not fun.

Here,  my current favorites.

Fall Fashion Shoe Loooooves

Starting (only starting, people) to get the itch for Fall fashion.  I know by November 15 I'll be over it and wishing I lived in Scottsdale, but that's the beauty of living in the Midwest.  You honestly get ALL FOUR SEASONS and you have to have the wardrobe to go with it!  What a great excuse to go shopping.

Here are some shoes I've spied in my September magazines (which, i must tell you, serve as great weights when lugging them through airports).

Aldo Nasrin Heel, $90 (also come in Cobalt and Purple)

'Chooze' a new shoe

One of the best things about being a buyer is finding a new line that you really believe in and putting your dollars behind it.  For me at Wonder, one of these lines is Chooze shoes.

I first found Chooze through their PR firm in LA, Bollare.  The owner and founder of Bollare is a good friend from my days at Shopbop (that's where she got her start in PR!), and she sent us some samples.

You'll notice with Chooze shoes the left shoe is never quite the same as the right.  Maybe it's a different fabric altogether, maybe the print is the same but the background color is different, whatever!  For a kid - how much fun is that?  Kids love wearing two different socks and if they could, two different shoes - so here's the answer to their prayers.

Chooze is also all about giving back.  How?  CHOOZE is a Good Returns company.  At the end of each year, CHOOZE invests 100% of profits in anti-poverty programs.  These programs provide training, support, education, and loans to women so they can start their own businesses and lift themselves out of extreme poverty.  Loans are paid back at the end of the year and they start the cycle again.  Cool, right?

Here are some of my favorites from the Fall line we'll be debuting at Wonder!

baby shoes that stay on.....yay!

We recently got Gemma Grace a pair of these darling Bobux baby shoes.  I love them for 2 reasons:

1.  They are SO CUTE!  So many choices, too.

2.  They stay on.  For real, I have not lost a baby shoe yet - but we have had many a scare - ex. recently going up and down every aisle in Michaels for a shoe that either Griffin pulled off Gemma, or it just fell off.  Ahhh!  Nothing more annoying.

Therefore, baby Bobux shoes from here on out!

Mouse Flat Love

I think I mentioned my love for Marc Jacobs mouse flats in my post about Gemma's nursery, which then spurred me to have a look at Shopbop to see if there were any new styles.

To my utter delight, there are!  My favorite, you ask?  These Marc Jacobs Spotted Mouse Flats are to die for.

How cute would these be with a pair of skinnies, a white tank, a little scarf around your neck, and this Tory Tote in Poppy Coral for spring?!

It's official.  I think cabin fever has set in.  Wish me luck.

I'm back. And wishing for Top Siders.

So I've taken a bit of a break from the blog world. Pardonnez moi. I wish I could say I took some sort of a mini Eat, Pray, Love break (and was paid for it too), but instead I've been at home trying to figure out this whole 'having a newborn and a two year old' thing. Yes that's in quotations because who knew that being a stay at home mom of more than one kid could be so tough! However let me follow that up with the fact that I feel tremendously lucky to be ABLE to stay at home with my 2 amazing children - they are only this little once!

All Mom's of two or more out there - I wish I'd said this sooner but you're all amazing! This is one tough job. I'm slowly figuring it out, and I know that once I start getting more sleep I'll feel more like myself, but for now I'm still in a bit of a zombie phase.
Every couple of nights Gemma (she's 5 weeks now) gives me 4 + hours of sleep at a time. When that happens, whoa I feel like a new woman. When it doesn't, I feel like, well, hungover.

So today I'm declaring that I'm back to my blog - and I'm not going to put any pressure on myself to do more than ONE post a week. That may be all you see for a while.

However, it's time for fall fashion, and I have been poring through my many magazines daily getting so excited for what's to come. In fact just today, my gigantic InStyle arrived in the mail. Wahoo! It's so heavy lifting it up might qualify for a workout (that's how much exercising has been going on around here, haha).

My excitement for today was actually inspired by my good friend and colleague at bop, Kristin Hanefeld. Kristin took over at the store as the buyer and store manager when I left back in February, and I miss her dearly. I think she feels the same way about me - therefore we have quite frequent text parties in which we talk about all sorts of things.......what we love on shopbop, her crazy workload, my crazy kids, and of course both of our Starbucks addictions.

So yesterday we were talking about things we LOVE right now in fashion - and she mentioned her obsession with Sperry Top Sider shoes. SO funny, because I have been thinking I need a pair myself. My husband picked up a pair of laceless Sperry sneakers in the spring, and just went back and bought another pair because he wears them so much. Here they are:

Sperry Top Sider Men's Laceless CVO, $70, you can find these by CLICKING HERE.

Since I'm a bit of a Sperry Top Sider novice, and Kristin seems to know WHAT'S UP with the Top Siders as of late, I asked her to find some of her favorites to feature on my blog. She added that she used to wear Top Siders back in the day growing up whenever they were vacationing at their cabin in the summer (she's a Wisconsin girl, people, everyone does this). I also love that she says her Grandpa Hanefeld used to rock a pair of these - and then she says, and I quote " that man had some swagger." Love!

Enough blathering.....here are Kristin's favorites for the newly re-invented brand, along with her commentary below.

Original Barrel Lace by Jeffrey, $125, find them HERE

Kristin says: "very crazy, but I am a lover of neon and I think it would be a nice way to add a little spice to some dark denim!"

Original 2-Eye Boat Shoe, $75, find them HERE

Kristin says: "very authentic, very preppy, my mom had a pair of these growing up. She had no idea just how sport and cool she was, haha!"

Bahama Boat Shoe, $54.95, find them HERE

Kristin says: "Basically I am dying to get these, how cute are they? They have preppy written ALL over them."

Cloud Logo 2-Eye Boat Shoe, $90, find them HERE

These are actually MY favorite. To second Kristin, they are SO PREPPY (which i love!), and they'll go with anything and everything.

I'm excited Top Siders are back - what do you all think of this brand making a comeback?

I love a good Choo

Spring fashion is in full swing - and I can't really participate. Yep, being pregnant kind of eliminates the ability to get super trendy with your clothes. It's all about looking stylish AND comfortable.

I am doing my best however by dressing up my basic pregnancy wardrobe with accessories! My favorites? Of course handbags, jewelry, and who could forget SHOES.

I just read in a magazine that Jimmy Choo has re-launched some of their best sellers over the past few years, WAHOO! It's called Choo: 24/7. I have a bit of a love affair going on with two pairs of flats I bought at Saks literally 4+ years ago. At the time, buying a pair of Jimmy Choo flats was a HUGE splurge, and while doing it, I was thinking 'Who do I think I am?!'

However, the purchase turned out to be one of my best over the past few years, as I've worn these flats a ton, received countless compliments on them both, and they've stood the test of time. They still look good - in fact, I wore them today!

So - I took a peek today at the Jimmy Choo website to see if my oldies but goodies had been re-launched, and sure enough, they have!

I have the black suede version, and pink metallic version (sounds horrible, but they're amazing) from yesteryear......these are the 2010 version:

Jimmy Choo 'Wand' Flat, gold metallic, $350

Jimmy Choo 'Wand' Flat in black patent, $350

Today, as a SAHM, these would also be a huge splurge, but at least if I splurge I know that I'll definitely be getting my money's worth. I think I have my eye on the gold metallic - they'll go with everything!
